Warwick Latin & Ballroom Dancesport are excited to introduce our very own Warwick Varsity Competition for 2022!

Always a staple of the competition year, Warwick Varsity is heading home with a new venue right on our campus. This year, the competition is expected to go ahead on 19th November 2022 at the Warwick Sports Hub, which provides a large and open space to get back to competitive and social dancing after the long summer break.

The highlight of the day for many dancers is the Team Match, the ultimate display of university pride, which gives the opportunity to compete as a group of four couples in the four main dances, waltz, quickstep, cha cha cha and jive. This is run in two main rounds, with both a beginner and general team match to ensure that everyone is able to dance as much as possible.

Throughout the day, the dances are split into rounds based on skill level, from heats, quarter-finals and semi-finals, before culminating in a final of 6-8 dancers in a bid to be crowned champion.

Whether you’re a total beginner or aspiring champion, Warwick Varsity gives the opportunity for dancers of all abilities to represent their university in a fun, relaxed and friendly environment.

We are constantly looking for ways to support our chosen charities each year, and so are hoping to run pay-to-enter charity fun dances to raise money and support those who need it most in our local community.

Each year, we invite between 3 and 5 expert judges to adjudicate throughout the day, a DJ to provide the music, a compère to introduce the dances and generally keep motivation high, and a scrutineer to collate marks to ensure the day progresses as smoothly as possible and is of the highest quality for everyone involved. We are very excited to host this competition once again and cannot wait to see you all there.
